WordPress Developer for Hire, From One-Off Fixes to Full Custom Builds

Custom themes, block patterns, plugin work, integrations and the awkward problems other people gave up on. Available directly or as a white-label developer for agencies.

Hands typing on a keyboard in front of a code editor and a website preview in a dim room

I started building with WordPress when it was still mostly a blogging tool, and I have used it for everything since: brochure sites, membership portals, online courses, catalogues with thousands of items and busy WooCommerce stores. That history matters when you hire a WordPress developer, because most problems are not new. They are the same handful of conflicts, bloated builders and fragile customisations showing up in a different place.

My preference is a lean build. A fast theme such as Kadence, native blocks or a well-behaved builder, custom fields where content needs structure, and as few plugins as the job allows. Every plugin is a dependency someone has to update and secure, so I would rather write twenty lines of code than install a plugin that does a hundred things you do not need.

You can hire me for a full build, for a defined chunk of work, or by the hour for fixes. Agencies use me as a white-label WordPress expert when their own team is stretched or when a project needs someone who understands both the code and the SEO consequences of it.

When it makes sense to call me

  • A plugin update broke part of your site and nobody can say why
  • Your page builder makes every page slow and every edit painful
  • You need a feature no off-the-shelf plugin quite covers
  • Your developer disappeared and left no notes or logins
  • You are an agency with more WordPress work than people
  • You want to move from a builder theme to native blocks

What you get

  • Custom themes and blocks

Themes and block patterns built for your content, so editors pick layouts instead of fighting them.

  • Custom post types and fields

Structured content for listings, projects, team members, products or resources, with clean admin screens.

  • Plugin work

Small custom plugins, careful modifications and replacement of abandoned plugins with something maintained.

  • Integrations

CRMs, booking systems, payment gateways, email platforms and APIs connected properly, with errors logged.

  • Fixes and rescues

White screens, broken layouts, conflicts, failed updates and slow admin areas, diagnosed on a staging copy first.

  • Documentation

Notes on what was built and why, so the next person (or you) is never left guessing.

How it works

  1. ScopeYou describe what you need. I look at the site, ask questions and send a written scope with a fixed price or hourly estimate.
  2. Staging copyWork happens on a private copy of your site, never on the live one.
  3. Build and testI develop, test on phones and desktops, and check that updates and caching will not undo the work.
  4. Deploy and documentChanges go live at a quiet time, with a backup taken first and a short note on what changed.

Why work with me on this

WordPress development and SEO are usually done by different people who never talk. When I change a template, I already know what it does to page speed, headings and indexing, so you do not pay for the same work twice.

Questions people ask

Do you work with agencies on a white-label basis?

Yes. I can work under your brand, communicate through you or directly with your client, and follow your coding and project conventions.

Can you take over a site another developer built?

Yes, and it is common. I start with a review of the theme, plugins, hosting and backups so we both know what we are inheriting before any changes.

Do you use page builders?

When they suit the client. Beaver Builder and well-configured block themes are my usual choices because they stay fast and are hard to break. I can also work inside an existing Divi or Elementor site.

How do you charge for small fixes?

Small fixes are billed by time in short increments, with an estimate before I start. Regular work is usually cheaper on a support or care plan.
