eCommerce SEO Services From Someone Who Builds the Store Too

Online stores win or lose on category pages, product data and technical details that most SEO packages never touch. I fix those, and I can build or rebuild the store when it is the store that is holding you back.

Store SEO is different from SEO for a service business. A shop can have thousands of URLs created by filters, variants, tags and sorting options, and most of them should never be in Google. At the same time, the pages that should rank, your category and product pages, are often thin, duplicated from the manufacturer or buried three clicks deep. Good ecommerce SEO services start by fixing that balance.

I have built and run stores on WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, VirtueMart and X-Cart since 2010, so I approach a store from both sides. If filtered pages are wasting crawl budget, I can change how they are generated rather than just reporting it. If product schema is missing prices or availability, I can add it to the template so every product benefits at once.

Typical work includes keyword research by category, rewriting category introductions, structured product data, faceted navigation rules, internal links from content to collections, image optimisation and page speed on mobile. For stores that have outgrown their platform, I also handle WooCommerce or Shopify builds and migrations with the SEO safeguards in place.

When it makes sense to call me

  • Your products only get found when people search your brand name
  • Product descriptions are copied from suppliers
  • Search Console shows thousands of pages "crawled, not indexed"
  • Filter and sort URLs are appearing in Google
  • The store is slow on phones, especially product pages
  • You are planning a platform change and worried about traffic

What you get

  • Category keyword map

Research that matches each collection and category to the searches buyers make, with gaps flagged for new pages.

  • Product page templates

Better titles, descriptions, image alt text, reviews markup where you have real reviews, and Product schema with price and stock.

  • Index control

Rules for filters, variants, tags and pagination so Google spends its time on pages that can sell.

  • Internal linking

Links from guides, blog posts and related products into the categories you most want to rank.

  • Speed on mobile

Image compression, lazy loading, script clean-up and caching tuned for store pages.

  • Store builds and moves

WooCommerce or Shopify builds, redesigns and platform migrations with redirects for every product.

How it works

  1. Store auditA crawl of the whole store, Search Console review and a look at your best and worst sellers.
  2. PrioritiesA ranked list of fixes by expected impact, agreed with you before work begins.
  3. ImplementationI make the template, content and technical changes myself, on staging first.
  4. Measure and extendMonthly tracking of category rankings and organic revenue, then the next round of improvements.

Why work with me on this

I wrote about ecommerce SEO for 1st on the List in 2022, and the same five fundamentals still decide most store rankings. The difference is that I can implement them in the theme rather than hand you a list.

Questions people ask

Is WooCommerce or Shopify better for SEO?

Both can rank well. WooCommerce gives more control over URLs and templates; Shopify is simpler to run but has fixed URL patterns. I recommend based on your catalogue, team and budget, not a favourite.

How long does ecommerce SEO take to work?

Technical fixes can show up within weeks. Category rankings for competitive terms usually take a few months of steady work, longer in crowded markets.

Should I write my own product descriptions?

For your best sellers, yes. Unique descriptions that answer buyer questions help rankings and conversions. For long catalogues, I prioritise the products and categories that matter most.

Can you migrate my store without losing rankings?

Yes. I map every product, category and image URL to its new address, carry over metadata and reviews, and monitor the store closely after launch. See migrations.
